The Enhancing Learning Achievement in Algorithm Writing for the Subject First Step to Robotics by Using the Atbash Game for Grade 7 Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to 1) compare the learning achievement in algorithm writing for the subject "First Step to Robotics" before and after using the Atbash game with grade 7 students, and 2) examine the satisfaction of grade 7 students towards learning algorithm writing in the "First Step to Robotics" by using the Atbash game. The sample group consisted of 50 grade 7 students from Assumption College Thonburi, selected through cluster random sampling. The research instruments used were: 1) a lesson plan using the Atbash game, 2) an achievement test, and 3) a satisfaction questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, and a dependent t-test.
The results of the research revealed as followed. 1) The students who used the Atbash game for learning had a higher post-test score in the achievement test on algorithm writing for the subject "First Step to Robotics" (Mean = 16.16, S.D. = 1.35) compared to their pre-test score (Mean = 9.88, S.D. = 2.88) with statistically significant difference at the .05 level. 2) The students expressed a high level of satisfaction towards learning algorithm writing in the subject "First Step to Robotics" by using the Atbash game, with an overall satisfaction score of (Mean = 4.38, S.D. = 0.88).
