The Effect of Cooperative Learning with the Badaboom Game on Academic Achievement and Retention of Thai Language Terminology among Grade 9 Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to: (1) compare the academic achievement in Thai language terminology of Grade 9 students before and after instruction using a cooperative learning approach combined with the Badaboom game, and (2) compare the learning retention of Thai terminology between the immediate post-instruction period and two weeks after instruction using the same instructional method. The sample group consisted of 29 Grade 9/2 students from Phramaemaree Sathon School, selected through cluster sampling. The research instruments were: (1) a cooperative learning lesson plan integrated with the Badaboom game, and (2) an academic achievement test on Thai language terminology. The statistical methods used for data analysis included the mean, standard deviation, and the t-test for dependent samples.
The results showed that: (1) students who received instruction through the cooperative learning approach combined with the Badaboom game demonstrated significantly higher academic achievement after instruction compared to before, at the .05 level of significance; and (2) there was no statistically significant difference between the post-instruction scores and the scores measured two weeks later, also at the .05 level. These findings suggest that the cooperative learning approach integrated with the Badaboom game effectively promotes both academic achievement and long-term learning retention.
