Abstract
This project, titled "Promotion and Development of Good Citizens of Samut Prakan in the Democratic Way," was conducted by the Center for Civic Politics Development at King Prajadhipok's Institute in Samut Prakan Province. The primary objectives were to instill democratic citizenship awareness and promote the development of high-quality citizens in the province. The activities were implemented in three stages: (1) building knowledge and democratic values to foster active citizenship and enhance civic potential; (2) conducting a SWOT analysis based on the 4 M components of management (Man, Money, Material, Management); and (3) reflecting on lessons learned from the initiative.
Participants in Activity Step 1 are divided into 2 groups: the first group consists of local administrative organizations, including provincial, district, and sub-district levels, as well as village headmen, village chiefs, and community health volunteers, totaling 50 people. The second group includes administrators and teachers from educational institutions that are part of the primary, secondary, vocational, and university networks in Samut Prakan Province, totaling 60 people. This brings the total to 110 participants. Participants in Steps 2 and 3 consist of the committee and the network of the Center for Civic Political Development, King Prajadhipok's Institute, in Samut Prakan Province, totaling 104 people.
Results of Implementation: Step 1 : Building knowledge and democratic values to create active citizenship and enhance citizens' potential through brainstorming, presentations, group discussions, training sessions, and group activities. Step 2 : SWOT analysis results were considered based on the 4 M components of management: Man : Knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Money : Adequacy and liquidity. Material : Adequacy, modernity, and quality. Management : Vision, leadership, coordination, workflow systems, regulations, or potential challenges in achieving future goals (Vision). Step 3 : Lessons learned about citizenship and indicators reflecting the qualities of good citizens included three key indicators: Emphasizing cultural traditions. Prioritizing one’s community. Valuing freedom, progress, and modernity.
