The Relationship between Organizational Climate and Teachers’ Work Behavior in Basic Education Schools in Kaeng Hang Maeo District under the Jurisdiction of the Chanthaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1

Abstract

This study aimed to: 1) examine the level of organizational climate in basic education schools. 2) investigate the level of teachers’ job performance behavior in basic education schools; and 3) explore the relationship between organizational climate and teachers’ job performance behavior in basic education schools. The sample size was determined using the Krejcie and Morgan table at a 95% confidence level, yielding a total of 161 participants. The sample consisted of 16 school administrators and 145 teachers, selected through stratified random sampling based on school size. The research instrument was a questionnaire, with the index of item–objective congruence ranging from .60 to 1.00 and a reliability coefficient of .90. The statistics employed included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient.


           The findings revealed that: 1) Overall, opinions regarding the organizational climate in basic education schools were at a high level (x̄= 4.27, S.D. = 0.689). When considering each aspect, the highest mean score was found in the support dimension, followed by the reward dimension, both at a high level (x̄= 4.42, S.D. = 0.608). The lowest mean score was in the warmth dimension, which was also rated at a high level (x̄= 4.22, S.D. = 0.741). 2) Overall, opinions regarding teachers’ job performance behavior in basic education schools were at the highest level (x̄= 4.53, S.D. = 0.454). When considering each aspect, the highest mean score was teachers’ overall job performance (x̄= 4.60, S.D. = 0.466) behavior, followed by supportive teaching behavior, both at the highest level. The lowest mean score was teaching behavior, which was also rated at
a high level (x̄= 4.42, S.D. = 0.563). 3) The analysis of the relationship between organizational climate and teachers’ job performance behavior in basic education schools in Kaeng Hang Meaw District indicated a strong positive correlation, which was statistically significant at the .01 level.
