Cybercrime Prevention Guidelines for the Elderly in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province

Abstract
This research aimed to study the cybercrime prevention guidelines for the elderly in Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. The sample group comprised 400 elderly individuals residing in Sriracha District. A questionnaire was employed as the data collection tool. The statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The research findings revealed that the overall exposure of the elderly to cybercrime in Sriracha District was at a moderate level ( = 3.03, S.D.=0.62). The elderly participants reported experiences such as receiving phone calls fraudulently claiming they had won prizes through random selection, being asked to transfer money to cover taxes before receiving the prizes, receiving unordered goods sent to their homes, and encountering unauthorized money transfers into their bank accounts followed by calls from banks requesting the return of funds. Regarding prevention guidelines, the analysis showed that the overall level of cybercrime prevention among the elderly was high ( = 3.94, S.D.=0.34). Respondents agreed with the use of technology to verify suspicious messages and block phone numbers associated with fraudsters. They also supported the establishment of specialized centers or agencies dedicated to preventing and suppressing call center scams, emphasizing the importance of integrated collaboration among relevant organizations.
