Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate students’ mathematical problem-solving ability and mathematics learning achievement through the implementation of 5E inquiry-based learning on linear equations with one variable. The target population consisted of 34 Grade 7 students at Srinagarindra The Princess Mother School Phuket semester of the 2025 academic year. The research instruments included: 1) 5E Inquiry-based learning totaling 9 plans, with an index of item-objective congruence ranging from 0.67-1 2) Mathematical problem-solving ability test, with an index of item-objective congruence equal to 1, and 3) Mathematics achievement test, with an index of item-objective congruence ranging from 0.67-1. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and percentage.
The findings were as follows:
- After the implementation of 5E inquiry-based learning, the students’ mathematical problem-solving ability was at a good level.
- The students’ mathematics learning achievement after the implementation of 5E inquiry-based learning showed a mean score of 15.50 with a standard deviation of 2.43, which was higher than the pre-instruction mean score of 8.00 with a standard deviation of 2.72.
