Improving the Quality of Life for People in the Area Surrounding the Power Plant in Budee Subdistrict, Mueang District, Yala Province.

Abstract
This research article aims to examine approaches to improving the quality of life of people living in areas surrounding the power plant in Budee Subdistrict Municipality, Mueang District, Yala Province. The study employs a qualitative research methodology. Key informants consisted of 12 individuals, including 1 mayor of Budee Subdistrict Municipality, 1 head of the public health division, and 10 local residents, selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a semi-structured interview guide. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, and analyzed using content analysis The findings reveal that approaches to improving the quality of life of people living around the power plant encompass three major aspects First, in terms of environmental issues, it was found that wastewater discharge into natural water sources has led to water quality deterioration, unpleasant odors, and fish deaths, adversely affecting farmers and local livelihoods. Additionally, dust emissions from the power plant have caused irritation and respiratory problems, reflecting an increasing trend in environmental and health issues Second, regarding safety, residents expressed concerns about risks associated with the power plant’s operations, particularly the potential leakage or dispersion of pollutants, which may affect water quality, air quality, noise levels, and overall public health Third, in terms of transportation and communication, it was found that the transportation of timber by trucks entering and exiting the power plant has caused road damage and traffic congestion, leading to inconvenience and increased accident risks. Moreover, it has placed additional burdens on relevant authorities in maintaining infrastructure and managing traffic systems.
