Problems of Participation Processes Affecting the Promotion of Local Wisdom Policies of Jakwah Sub-district Administrative Organization, Raman District, Yala Province

Abstract

This research aims to (1) study the problems and obstacles to the process of public participation in promoting and preserving local wisdom, and (2) propose policy guidelines to develop effective participation leading to the creation of sustainable economic added value for the community. The study area was the Chakwa Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Raman District, Yala Province. The research was qualitative, with data collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 16 key informants, and analyzed using content analysis.

           The research findings revealed that (1) public participation remains formal, lacking a systematic mechanism for knowledge transfer, unclear linkages to markets, and inconsistent budget support; and (2) development guidelines should focus on enhancing public participation at every stage of the policy process, coupled with the development of a clear and continuous system for transferring local wisdom, as well as linking local knowledge with the community economy to create added value and sustainability for the community. From the study in the Chakwa Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Raman District, Yala Province, it was found that the solutions should focus on upgrading public participation from a formal approach to genuine participation at every stage of the policy-making process, coupled with the establishment of a clear and continuous knowledge transfer system, as well as linking local knowledge with markets and the creation of a continuous long-term budget plan to effectively create added economic value and sustainability for the community.
